Melissa’s Homemade Bread

- 5 cups of white flour
- 2 cups of whole wheat flour
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1/8 cup dry yeast
- 1/4 cup oil
- 3 cups hot water
- 1/2 cup warm water
- some butter or margarine
Directions:
- Combine flour and salt in a large bowl, set aside.
- In a small bowl combine yeast, sugar and the 1/2 cup of warm water. Stir and let rise for a minute then add the oil.
- Add the 3 cups of hot water to the flour. Stir just a little.
- Create a well in the middle and add the yeast mixture to the well.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead dough until you have a smooth ball.
- Coat dough with butter or margarine and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Knead again for at least 5 minutes and let rise again until the dough has doubled in size.
- Place dough into loaf pans and let rice 3/4 of an inch over the top of loaf pans or shape into rolls.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
